Our Story

We had been acquainted with each other for many years. Teena had even served for a time on the Maui Economic Development Board (MEDB) of directors. In 2011, the public and private/nonprofit partnership with the County of Maui that had been a tradition since MEDB’s creation in 1982 took on a new dimension.

Teena took over as the Director of the Office of Economic Development for the County of Maui as Jeanne entered year 26 of her service at MEDB. We relished finding solutions to economic development challenges.  Solutions came in many forms. We collaborated on attracting and assisting new and existing businesses, convened thought leaders with our community through conferences and workshops, initiated community-based projects, and engaged a diverse network of organizations and individuals to make good things happen for our community.

Along that journey, we learned that we had complementary skills. We learned the array of associates we had built reached into business, government, academia and non-profit arenas locally and nationally. And, most importantly, we learned that we shared values about assisting communities and people and about standards of performance.

Jeanne stepped down as President & CEO of MEDB in June 2017 after 33 years. She then formed an LLC, determined to find ways to parlay her past experiences and extensive relationships into a benefit for others.

At the end of the administration’s eight-year tenure in 2018, Teena ended her service with the County of Maui. It was then that we decided to merge our decades of experience and the extensive relationships that we had been fortunate to establish as professionals and as volunteers.

In January 2019, we formed Skog Rasmussen LLC to position us to contribute meaningfully to community and economic development, working with projects and people we believe will make a positive impact in Maui County, in our state, and beyond.
